4+1 Field Day
Every 5th day, students explore a chosen field through hands-on workshops with experts and visits to places like labs, factories, and offices.
4+1 Daily Field Hour
4+1 Daily Field Hour
Every day, an hour is dedicated to working with a mentor on projects that apply classroom learning to real-world challenges.
Students choose from diverse project options, with each pod (<10) guided by a mentor to set and achieve goals for the semester.

Big Ideas from Small Creatures
Each student chose an animal to study closely. To record what they learned, they draw models and publish books with nonfiction informational writing. Later, students reflect whether we can copy or mimic the garden animals’ adaptations to invent something for humans? Students learn about inventors, engineers, biomimicry.

How can we feed our bodies to be healthy?
Students create a ‘healthy plate’ that includes 4 of the 5 food groups with labels and accurate drawings. Students use group work to choreograph an exercise routine. They film each section to compile into a class instructional workout DVD. First graders bring the plate and DVD home to help their families stay healthy.

The Gourmet Burger Challenge
Students explore different types of nutrients foods available in every type and exploring the food chain to understand why some foods and meats end up on our plate vs. some do not by visiting farms and zoos. Students, in the end, cook a burger of their choice and understand it's history, nutritional and calorific value

Students decide to discover the meaning of community by interviewing a diverse set of members within friends and family. What are different types of relationships within a community? Students in groups to shortlist a list of friend/family members and community groups as a student group - interview them and then put these learnings into their choice of interpretation. Taking on the role of a journalist.
